Super cute/comfy but comically short

I'm 5'7 and approx 175lbs, normally a medium, sometimes a large - these (mountain trail brown) fit perfect in a medium, but were ridiculously short. Regular length usually fits like a dream, but these... not so much. And because of the width of the leg, they look clownish to wear as a shortpant/crop...

These are great pants but the sizing is finicky. I own the taupe color and needed to size down from my usual size. I then bought black in the same size, and the waistband as much tighter than the taupe color. The next size up was too loose all over. Frustrating as I'd like to own them in multiple colors, but apparently can't.

I was looking to replace a similar pair of black wide-leg pants I'd bought at Gap about a decade ago. They were getting a bit…tight in the mid section, lol. These are exactly what I was looking for. They do run a bit large. The pants I was replacing were a medium that was practically cutting off blood flow to my legs. I got these in a large/regular length and they're fairly loose. I'm 5'4" and they hit me at my ankles, when hiked up.
