I have five of the long sleeve Modern Crewneck T-Shirts. I originally had ordered tall (I'm 6' 1/2") and they were too long so I returned them. This time I though, no problem, regular length. But they are much shorter in length - they feel *almost* cropped. I'm going to live with it as I want less b...ulk in the summer. But if you are long waisted, I suggest going for the tall length. Otherwise - very high quality, super soft jersey material. I also bought the black with stripes. Classy.
It is with great sorrow that I write of the passing of the MODERN t-shirt. The Modern t-shirt will be greatly missed by all who knew it. I have been wearing the MODERN shirts in size M for years. I wear them too work daily and often add a sweater or zip up jacket in the colder months. I have loved t...he softness of the cotton:modal material, and the fact that never lose their shape or their colour. It is actually the shirt that brought me back to the GAP. I recently hit a sale and purchased 8 of these in various colours (black, navy, brown and white). Today, I am sadly returning them all. They are no longer the same shirt. The cut is not the same. This length of this shirt no longer hits at the mid-hip region but rather hits high up on the hip, just below the belt (top of the pocket). For some this may not be an issue but for others who may need to actually move during the course of a day the shirt rides up and shows my first jelly roll. The other issue is the length of the sleeves. The sleeves are too long. Not by much but definitely by enough that this shirt looks and feels awkward as it hits the bend of the elbow. I do not know if it is the length of the sleeve that is longer or that the material of the shirt is cheaper and not able to hold the shoulder firmly thus allowing the sleeve to sag. Either way, I do know that short shirts with longs sleeves are not flattering. This brings me to my third point of contention, the material of the Modern shirt. I have noticed this slowly over the years and had added a thin cotton tank top but as another reviewer mentioned the material is much cheaper in this version. Yes the tag continues to say 58% cotton, 39% modal and 3% spandex....but not all cotton is created equal, and after looking into it a little, not all modal is created equal either. The old shirts were soft, durable and kept their colour. These new shirts feel rough, cheap and are likely not to keep their shape or their colour. So sad...

I keep checking, no new colors and the sleeve length is short now, sadly. I hope my comment helps & will be a consideration. I'll keep an eye out for my all time favorite tee!

gap.com/iv purchased these shirts for years - always get XXL Tall, they are a great length and i prefer a looser fit. These shirts have been a daily staple for me. The color selection for Tall sizes is sub optimal but that is pretty normal for GAP. The issue I have with these shirts recently is that the fabric is thinner and the color washes out much faster. When i compare my 2025 purchases with prior years the quality degradation is obvious last years black shirt are just as faded as shirts purchased in 2023. I have even had seams pop on the newer shirts. Such a shame
